Barratt 2011 ‘The Reserve’ Pinot Noir
Despite its light colour, the wine exhibits strong Pinot varietal character on nose and palate with plenty of spice and floral notes to add to its complexity and charm.
Barratt 2010 ‘The Ambrose’ Merlot
A complex nose of mulberries, blueberries, savoury olive notes, earthiness and chocolate is followed by a soft palate with fine tannins, good length and balance. Despite its age at release (7 years), this wine continues to develop and has potential to age for some time yet.
Unfortunately the 2010 was so popular that we’ve sold out, however the 2011 will be released shortly, so hopefully next time you return we’ll have it ready for delivery. That said, you can’t rush a good Merlot.
Barratt 2013 Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay
This is a big and rich Chardonnay with characters of citrus, melon, honeysuckle and cashews complemented by oak-derived toasty, smoky notes. The palate is full bodied, creamy and lingering but finishes fresh with natural grape acidity, creating great mouth feel.
Barratt 2013 ‘Uley Vineyard’ Pinot Noir
Initially shy, the wine transforms with swirling and breathing in the glass to reveal a classical Pinot with strawberry and cherry fruit, spice, earthy, smoky, gamey and sappy characters. Well-structured with fine but firm tannins, great length and balanced natural acidity, this wine should mature and improve over at least 7 to 10 years.
Barratt 2016 Piccadilly Valley Sauvignon Blanc
The wine displays excellent mineral length with citrus, tropical fruit, gooseberry, herbaceous and elder flower aromas. The palate is followed by consistent fruit flavours and crispness achieved from the natural grape acidity.
Sadly all good things must come to an end. However, endings create opportunities for new beginnings. The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc is being bottled next week and will be available around July. It looks interesting and ripe with apple flavours and good mineral balance. Bold with distinctive flavours characteristic of the Piccadilly Valley. Trust me, it will be worth the wait.
